OUR VINEYARDS
Sustainable vineyards
We have vineyards over 70 years old.
We own 11 hectares of vineyards in Briones, in the Rioja Alta. Our oldest vines are now over seventy years old, while the rest were planted between 1985 and 1990 on the slopes of the historic Valpierre area, at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level and facing southeast and east.
The soil is clay-limestone, which, together with the inclination of the slopes, facilitates excellent drainage of the soil, which is not very fertile and ideal for obtaining grapes of great structure. The vines, planted in goblet and trellis, are of the Tempranillo variety.
We practice serious, planned and meticulous viticulture. meticulous, focused on the production of quality wines. We achieve very low yields, less than 6000 kg per hectare, and we are environmentally responsible in terms of fertilizers and treatments.
Our climate is also a key factor. La Rioja Alta is located in an area with a marked Atlantic influence, but it is protected from the rains by the natural barriers of theSonsierra and Demanda mountain ranges.
Cold air descends from these mountains at dusk to cool the vines and maintain the acidity in the grapes, which is essential for balanced wines.
